Progress...
I was up early this morning, unable to sleep past 06:00. I got online, e-mailed my fiance good morning, and got out pen and paper. I started a list of those who will need to be notified of my name change after I'm married. Not wanting to miss anyone, I called my Mom, an early riser, and picked her brain. She was able to add a few to my list. I plan to get hold of as many name-change forms as possible to fill out, and take them with me when I travel, so I can get them filled out, ready to submit when I return. I kept my maiden name or hyphenated it previously, now I can't wait to take his name!
I called the Registry Office where we will be declaring intent and getting married. I made the appointment for us to give notice, on day eight of my stay there. I'm glad I did call -- they had one available appointment remaining for that day! When we go for the appointment, we can schedule our marriage -- as quickly, simply and economically as possible.
At work, they are talking about having a party for me, a wedding shower. I'm not sure I want one -- this will be my third time, and there are two other women in the office who are getting married in the next several months -- I don't want to upstage anyone. They are okay with it, of course.
We hope to spend a few days in a lovely Cottage where we stayed the first time I ever went to visit him. It's in a beautiful place, and has lovely atmosphere. We think of it as "ours", though we only rent it. Hopefully we will be able to return to it again and again in the years to come.
Above all, I want to BE married to this man I love above all others. We have plans for a few days' honeymoon, only reservations are needed. The time difference is very frustrating -- by the time I get out of work and home, he is barely awake, with good reason. I will be glad when this is finished.
